Stopa America is a worldwide leader in automated storage of sheet metal, long span goods, and fully automated parking systems. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service and Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated storage systems for our clients.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring these systems operate at peak performance, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and software issues, and providing exceptional customer service. This is a hands-on, field-based position that requires strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Stopa America is located in Farmington, CT and services and installs Stopa systems for the American market. We have installation crews that travel throughout North America (mainly USA) to build the modular systems. The Automation Engineer then arrives onsite, programs the PLC, sets control parameters, and conducts tests and integrations to other machines. Using knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering concepts, the Automation Engineer works to bring the machine to life and ensure it is fully functional and meets the customer expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Travelling Monday-Friday to customer sites to perform the startup of the storage system
  • Managing the mechanical and electrical installation teams during the startup phase to ensure that the system is properly functioning and integrated to external machines
  • Setting parameters on all machine components to ensure full functionality of the machine
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and programming issues that arise during startup process

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Related prior experience working in the manufacturing industry
    • Understanding of electrical engineering concepts
    • Ability to interpret and understand electrical schematics
    • Experience programming control systems
    • Willingness to travel and valid passport
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with PLC software, specifically Siemens S7 TIA Portal
    • Experience with automated machinery and electrical control circuits
    • Moderate fluency in technical German
    • Ability to use basic hand tools
